Hi awesome reader and welcome back to this months newsletter
Latest news
Life has been busy... my editor is now back and working hard on reviewing Devils at the Gate (TASD part 2). I have found creative work is very hard to keep on schedule especially when it is not your full time job but we push on. I have also been reviewing another project which I hope to share more with you all next year.
I'm also picking up where I left off on the first draft of TASD part 3. The final instalment to my Stone Devils series which I hope will tie the story up nicely and give everyone a satisfying ending but also possibly an emotional one; for not all those who we love can survive the horrors of the end of the world.
What I’m reading/listening to
I’ve been jumping between books this month, Stephen King has released an anthology of short stories from the world of The Stand, titled (predictably) as The End Of The World As We Know It. Some of these stories are great, some not so much. The general rule of thumb so far seems to have been if it is read by the female narrator they don't seem to be so enjoyable. I don't know if that is the narrators style or she has unfortunately been given the worst stories. There is over 25 hours of listening so to break that up I have also been cracking through The Reddening by Adam L.G Nevill who also wrote The Ritual which became a pretty decent horror movie.
This novel is a Folk-Horror based in Devon in which locals appear to be involved in ancient rituals and sacrifice after discovering deep underground caves belonging to cannibal Neanderthals. I'm enjoying how the characters have been pulled into the mystery and horror by unfortunate circumstance, either being in wrong place at the wrong time or having the wrong information shared with them so now they are embroiled in a plot which includes human sacrifice and extreme violence.
The picturesque Devonshire landscape my never feel the same again.
